Monogrammed Cupcakes

I have spent the day feeling desperately heartbroken for the people of Japan, in particular, the children. The devastation that has occurred would have been terrifying enough for adults, and it is more than I can bear to think of the fear and suffering the children have experienced.

I had promised my son that we would make cupcakes today and so we did. I made royal icing and we painted the letters on with a plastic stencil set and paintbrush, then dipped them in hundreds and thousands.

I wish every parent everywhere were able to spend this Saturday afternoon doing something like this with their children. We are counting our blessings today, and praying for the people of Japan. And also wondering – where next? I am going to make every moment count.
